Yerevan /Mediamax. Armenian Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan today has met with officers of the Russian peacekeeping briage in Syunik to discuss the control of the Goris-Stepanakert highway and the plan to deploy Russian border guards in Syunik section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

The press service of the Armenian Ministry of Defense has said the parties have also touched upon the search for people gone missing due to the war and the upcoming activities.

In Syunik marz, Vagharshak Harutyunyan has held a consultation, attended by the commander of the military unit, the governor of Syunik and the commander of the territorial subdivision of the National Security Service (NSS) border troops.

The consultation focused on demarcation of Armenian-Azerbaijani borders and deployment of armed forces and border troops on the newly marked border lines.

The Defense Minister has addressed the high-ranking officers participating in the border negotiations and given instructions regarding deployment of troops, establishment of security checkpoints, and formation of new units.

The commander of the military unit and the governor of Syunik have reported on the work carried out in some disputed areas, emphasizing that the border discussions between the parties continue.
