Jurgis Baltrusaitis award jury reveals the winner

Yerevan/Mediamax/. National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA) has held the awarding ceremony of the Jurgis Baltrusaitis award.

In December 2015 Mediamax reported about the presentation of essay “Jugha on the bank of river Araks and its monuments”, co-written by Jurgis Baltrusaitis and Tigran Kuyumjyan.

Given the significant role Jurgis Baltrusaitis played in preservation of Armenian cultural heritage, Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia Erikas Petrikas wished to establish the Jurgis Baltrusaitis award. Petros Aloyan Foundation assumed the responsibility to fund the award for 5 years starting from 2017.

 

The prize in “Preservation and Restoration of Historical-architectural Heritage” category is provided to a student from NUACA Department of Architecture with the best graduation work.

 

This year 5 works were submitted for the award, in which the students tried to finds ways to integrate ancient locations of Yerevan in the urban environment. 

 

The jury selected the work by Lernik Galstyan, the modern museum project for Shengavit district, as the winner.

 

He will receive the Jurgis Baltrusaitis monetary award in the amount of Armenian dram equivalent to EUR 1,500.

 

The jury included Chairman of the Chamber of Architects of Armenia Mkrtich Minasyan, Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia Inga Stanyte-Tolockiene, Head of Petros Aloyan Foundation Hayk Aloyan, and Director of Mediamax media company Ara Tadevosyan.
