Yerevan/Mediamax/. Member of “Prosperous Armenia” faction Naira Zohrabyan said to Mediamax today that there is a point on step-by-step shift to proportional electoral system in the party’s program.
“It’s very important to shift to 100% proportional system if we want to have a civilized parliament where the role and significance of each political party is represented. It’s one of the most important issues to be solved taking into account the circumstances”, noted the MP talking to Mediamax’s correspondent.
She recalled that “the parliament recently adopted the new Electoral Code recently and the political powers arrived at a conclusion to maintain the current correlation between proportional and majority systems”.
“I am not sure it’s realistic to discuss the issue in such a short period of time left till 2012 parliamentary elections”, said Naira Zohrabyan commenting on the urge of “Dashnaktsutyun” and “Heritage” to shift to 100% proportional system.
The MP added that the issue has been discussed neither in “Prosperous Armenia” nor in the ruling coalition.
