Yerevan /Mediamax/. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated that Russia has an objectively larger role than other mediators do in the settlement of Karabakh conflict.
“Together with the USA and France, Russia is one of the mediating countries. The process has a fairly high level of coordination. Of course, Russia plays a special role, because it is a neighboring country of Azerbaijan and it does not have a state border with Armenia. Russia is a country that historically has good relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia. Therefore, for objective reasons, its role and capacity for mediation are larger than those of the mediators located far from the region,” Aliyev said in the interview to Al Jazeera, cited by TASS.
