Yerevan /Mediamax/. Defense Minister of Armenia Davit Tonoyan has told the parliament today that Azerbaijani armed forces have been using weapons of various calibers on the border with Armenia recently.
“We have practiced restraint in terms of spreading information. The information about incidents was provided to the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. We have warned several times that there are no mechanisms for risk reduction. Unfortunately, we have had a casualty today.
Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry has voiced concerns. These concerns have not surprised us, because we took corresponding measures in response to the use of weapons,” said Davit Tonoyan.
He has stated that ceasefire violations have almost doubled after the end of July clashes.
Davit Tonoyan has said he hopes that Armenian army’s actions will help maintain the ceasefire and facilitate negotiations.
