Yerevan /Mediamax/. Defense Ministry of Armenia has stated that Azerbaijani armed forces tried to conduct construction and reinforcement works in the northeastern section of the border with Armenia in recent day, thus increasing the tension on the border.

“The vanguard units of Armenian army had to undertake corresponding actions to suppress the adversary’s activities and prevent further escalation.

Resulting from yet another provocation by Azerbaijan, the Armenian army has suffered a loss on September 16: Junior Sergeant, contracted serviceman Hovik Tamazyan received mortal gunshot and shrapnel wounds while fulfilling his duties at a combat post in the northeastern section of the state border.

The military and political leadership of Azerbaijan bears the full responsibility for this situation and the increase of tension on the border,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
