Yerevan/Mediamax/. The Education, Culture and Sports Committee of the Israeli Knesset discussed the issue of recognition of the Armenian Genocide and declaration of April 24 as a Day of the Armenian Genocide’s Victims at today’s session.

Head of the Jerusalem Hay Dat Office Zhorzhetta Avagyan said that the discussion lasted about an hour and a half, Mediamax reports.

“Speeches favorable for us were made at the session. But it was decided to continue the discussion at the next session as not everyone managed to express their opinions; the date is not known yet”, said Zhorzhetta Avagyan.

AFP quoted the speaker of Knesset Reuven Rivlin today who denied the assumptions according to which the issue of the Armenian Genocide was included in the agenda due to the tension occurred in Israel-Turkey relations.  “We don’t want to make use of the political situation to settle the score”, he said.
