Yerevan /Mediamax/. The servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno Karabakh visited the Dadivank Monastery.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that “the abbot of the Dadivank Monastery Complex priest Hovhannes Hovhannisyan introduced to the Russian peacekeepers the history of the creation of the monastery in 12-13th centuries.”

“We have touched the history of our ancestors and upon arrival home we will definitely tell our children, grandchildren and relatives about this place,” said Yury Romanishin, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

Russian Ministry of Defense noted that “Dadivank is one of the biggest complexes of medieval Armenia.”

“The complex is located at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level. The name “Dadivank” was given to the monastery in honor of Saint Dadi, who preached Christianity in the western part of Armenia, he was a disciple of the Apostle Thaddeus,” the statement says.

Mediamax notes that Russian peacekeepers are guarding Dadivank, located on the territory of the Kelbajar region which has been handed over to Azerbaijan in accordance with the November 9, 2020 trilateral statement of the Presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia.
