Yerevan /Mediamax/. Social investor and entrepreneur Ruben Vardanyan believes that for becoming stronger Armenia must attract new investments amounting up to 15-20 billion USD.

He stressed that the directions and programs where these funds should be directed are interlinked and should not be considered separately.

“In particular, about $ 10 billion should be spent on the modernization and development of the Armenian Armed Forces and security system,” Ruben Vardanyan said in an interview with Civilnet.

Commenting on different opinions about his and his partners’ plans to attract investments in Western Armenia, he said:

“If we really want to preserve our cultural heritage of Western Armenia, we must be ready to have a fund of $ 1 billion to finance that work,” said Ruben Vardanyan.

He stressed that today it is necessary to work in that direction, and not sit and wait in fear when and how Turkey will absorb Armenia economically.

“Turks understands only the language of force. We will be strong when we show them that we are ready to take better care of, for example, the collapsing Ani. If the border opens one day, our only option is to be proactive,” he said.

Ruben Vardanyan also highlighted the preservation of the Western Armenian language and voiced the need of establishing a university in Armenia for that purpose.

“I am sure that Western Armenian should be taught in Armenian secondary schools as well. In addition, about $ 50 million should be invested for setting up a fund of preservation of Grabar - Classical Armenian language,” he said.
