Yerevan /Mediamax/. The state of emergency in the country was extended until August 12 at today’s special session of the Armenian government.

This is already the fourth time in a row since March 16 that the state of emergency has been extended.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the whole system of anti-pandemic measures will de jure lose its force if the state of emergency is not extended.

“On the other hand, we understand that it’s impossible to constantly extend the state of emergency, and we decided to develop a legislative package that will allow us to use this toolkit not only in a state of emergency but also during emergency situations,” he said.

A special session of the Armenian National Assembly will also be held today to discuss the details of the extended state of emergency.
