We continue telling the story of how Naregatsi Art Institute orchestra surprised Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) when they visited Yerevan to mark the 30th anniversary of Rock Aid Armenia charity project.

We have already told how the orchestra played Black Sabbath’s She is Gone for the guests.

It was not the only surprise: the orchestra also played Deep Purple’s hit Smoke on the Water.

Mediamax has released the professionally made video of that performance today.

The video concludes with Ian Gillan’s remarks. According to the rock legend, he and Tony Iommi found Naregatsi orchestra’s interpretation of their music amazing and said they would never forget it.

“The emotion is just overwhelming. I’ve heard many covers of Smoke on the Water by jazz groups, orchestras, and they were all unique, but today you gave it a dimension we’ve never heard before,” added Gillan.
