Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian astrophysicist Garik Israelian and partners have informed that 10 Nobel prize-winners will participate in 3rd Starmus Science Festival due in 2016.
“Beyond the Horizon” will be the theme of the 3rd Starmus Festival, which is a tribute to theoretical physicist, cosmologist Stephen Hawking.
Stephen Hawking, who took part in the Festival last year, said that “with this next edition, Starmus confirms its position as a unique debating chamber for the future of the human race.”
Member of Starmus Advisory Board, guitarist and composer of rock band Queen Brian May said that Starmus 3 will be “the greatest edition yet.”
Festival Founder and Director Garik Israelian noted:
“We are very proud and honored to have the consent of Professor Hawking to pay tribute to him; as a result, the next edition will be a historic milestone on a par with the stature of Stephen Hawking himself.”
The following Nobel prize-winners will participate in the 3rd Starmus Festival to be held from June 27 to July 2, 2016:
Harold Kroto (Chemistry, 1996)
Eric Betzig (Chemistry, 2014)
Carol Greider and Elizabeth Blackburn (Medicine, 2009)
Robert Wilson (Physics, 1978)
David Gross (Physics, 2004)
Adam Riess and Brian Schmidt (Physics, 2011)
Edvard Moser and May-Britt Moser (Physiology or Medicine, 2014)
The Festival will also feature other renowned scientists and astronomers from various countries.
In September 2014, Garik Israelian and Stephen Hawking presented “Starmus: 50 Years of Man in Space” book. It presented the materials of the first edition of Starmus Science Festival held in 2011.
The second edition of Starmus Science Festival took place on the Canary Islands from September 22 to 27, 2014 with the theme “Beginnings: The Making of the Modern Cosmos.”
1st Starmus International Festival was held on Tenerife in 2011. It was held in homage to the 50th anniversary of the first space mission flown by Yuri Gagarin and became a vivid music and scientific event.
