Cyprus criminalizes Armenian Genocide denial

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Ahead of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, the parliament of Cyprus adopted a bill today criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide.

The bill was adopted unanimously, representative of the Armenian community of Cyprus Vardges Mahtesyan informed.

 

The adoption of the bill coincided with the visit of the delegation headed by National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan to Cyprus.

 

The Republic of Cyprus officially recognized the Armenian Genocide in 1975.

 

Mediamax recalls that the on March 25 the National Assembly of Armenia unanimously passed the statement “On Condemning the Genocide of the Greeks and Assyrians Perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey.”
