Yerevan /Mediamax/. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that his country will “eliminate each threat to its security emanating from Armenia.”

According to TASS, Aliyev told the following in an interview to local TV channels:

“We are very closely following all attempts of building military in Armenia – those that they are undertaking on their own, as well as with the help of their partners. Therefore, I said frankly and openly that if we see even the slightest threat to our security, this threat will be immediately eliminated. Wherever it is, at what depth of the territory of Armenia it is, we will simply destroy it. Everyone should know and understand this, and, first of all, the Armenian leadership.”

Azerbaijani president said they will continue to acquire modern weapon systems and build up the army’s combat capability. He called the creation of special forces as one of the important elements of improving the country’s military potential.

“These forces showed themselves at their best during the second Karabakh war. Their improvement, as well as the creation of new special forces is a necessity dictated by the situation. It’s about attempts of revenge on the part of Armenia. We do not know what will happen in a year, in 2, in 5, ” Aliyev said.
