Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said that while lifting the ban on the import of Turkish goods the government was guided by political considerations.

“As the body responsible for the economy, we must closely monitor and protect the companies which opened during the past year and make sure that their development is not endangered and they are not left out of the market. We are monitoring the situation, if issues emerge and we see that investors’ businesses are at risk due to not having developed enough to withstand the competition with Turkish goods, in this case we will introduce certain programs to protect investors,” he said.

Vahan Kerobyan noted that he personally backed the extension of the ban on the import of Turkish goods, “but the government, being a collegial body, made such a joint decision.”
