Yerevan /Mediamax/. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today has stated that the snap parliamentary elections should be held with a proportional electoral system, without the rating-based list.

During the Q&A in the National Assembly, Pashinyan has said that the electoral system indicated in the current Electoral Code was not part of the political agreement on the snap elections.

“In all discussions I asked our colleagues, I mean the parliamentary factions as well, what they think about the electoral system and if they want to have the rating-based one or not. We have concluded that both Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia leave this matter to the decision by the parliament majority,” said the Prime Minister.

He has noted that the parliament majority held discussions with non-parliamentary forces and representatives of the civil society after the talks with Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia. Pashinyan has stated that given the commitment that was undertaken previously, the government will make simple changes to the Electoral Code.
