Yerevan /Mediamax/. Bundestag, AFD member Steffen Kotre has stated that “Armenians are fighting a war of self-defense.”
He has made the statement during the discussions on Artsakh, held in Bundestag on October 29.
Kotre was in Artsakh with fellow party members a few days ago.
“Armenians are waging a war of self-defense in contrast to the invading Azerbaijan, which is targeting civilians with internationally banned cluster munitions. Azeris shoot Armenian prisoners of war, behead them, speak openly about deporting and destroying Armenians from Karabakh,” he told.
The deputy has brought up the repressive qualities of the authoritarian Azerbaijani state and stressed that free elections take place in Nagorno-Karabakh. “Artsakh, though young, is a democracy,” noted Kotre.
“There are ancient Armenian cultural monuments everywhere in Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenians have lived there for centuries as an indigenous majority. There are special mosques of Persian origin that are in good condition,” said the deputy.
Addressing other members of Bundestag, he said: “Unlike you, we were in Karabakh and we know the dire situation there. Neutrality now means agreeing with what is happening. Words will not help anymore.”
Steffen Kotre has demanded from the government to cease any type of support for Turkey and impose tough sanctions urgently.
