Azerbaijan says France is “not neutral”

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Azerbaijani foreign minister Jeyhun Bayramov accused France on Saturday of not being neutral when it comes to mediating the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

According to Reuters, he told a news conference that France had violated the principle of neutrality, while the Azeri side had not noticed any such violations by Russia.

Mediamax recalls that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said last week that the statement of Emanuel Macron about the de-escalation of the Karabakh conflict were "unacceptable” and Paris "removes” itself from the settlement process.

According to him, “a number of Macron’s statements about Azerbaijan and Turkey are unacceptable.”

“He accused us, slandered us, and this is unacceptable for us. His statement said that Azerbaijan together with Turkey brought terrorists to the region, then another statement said that Azerbaijan wants to seize Nagorno-Karabakh, and we will not allow this. Nagorno-Karabakh is our land, how can any state seize its own lands... France puts itself outside this trio, and we cannot remain silent about this,” Aliyev said then.
