Macron proposed a “new method” to restart talks

Yerevan /Mediamax/. French President Emmanuel Macron said in a statement he had spoken on the phone successively with the prime minister of Armenia and the president of Azerbaijan about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and had proposed a new method to restart talks within the Minsk group.

Macron said work would start from Friday evening, as he upped his efforts to broker mediation in his role as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk group, Reuters reported.

 

He also reiterated his call for a ceasefire.

 

Earlier today Armenian government informed that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

 

Nikol Pashinyan thanked the French President for the constructive position of France on the inadmissibility of unleashing the war.

 

The parties deemed the involvement of foreign terrorist militants in military operations inadmissible.

 

The French President highlighted the importance of resumption of the peace process in line with the October 1 statement by the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries.

 

Prime Minister Pashinyan considered unacceptable the infiltration of Turkish and Turkish-sponsored terrorists into the region, emphasizing that it is impossible to restore regional security without the ousting these destabilizing forces.

 

In the context of establishing peace, Nikol Pashinyan stressed the importance of close cooperation between the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and their countries.
