Yerevan/Mediamax/. Russian President Dmitri Medvedev said today that there are "substantial difficulties” in the process of settling the Nagorno Karabakh problem.
Dmitri Medvedev said this during his meeting with the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Sochi, Mediamax reports quoting the site of the Russian President.
Dmitri Medvedev stated that during the meetings in trilateral format “in some places we advanced, and there may still be substantial difficulties in others. I think this dialogue is useful and hope that such contacts will continue in the future as well”.
In his turn, Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude towards the Russian President for his efforts toward searching ways of settlement.
“As you noted, there were encouraging moments as well and there were moments which exacerbated the pessimistic moods but the process is underway. And the fact that you are carrying on the efforts adds to the optimism. Azerbaijan is interested in quick settlement of the conflict for the sake of peace in the region”, stated Ilham Aliyev.
The trilateral meeting of the Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents is currently underway in Sochi.
