Official representative of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova stated that while mentioning Armenia in the famous interview, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko “talked not about the Union State but about possible integration processes and associations in the spheres of security and economy.”

Speaking at a briefing in Moscow, Zakharova noted that Lukashenko has outlined his vision “on the situation of development of integration processes.”

“If to simply talk about the Union State – not in the context of this interview – then it is not a closed formation and provides an opportunity for other state-members to join it. This is well known information. There are no secrets. Again, much of this interview was devoted to the current state of integration processes. At the same time, the President of Belarus spoke about how, based on the geopolitical situation and the development of world processes, a new space for these integration associations will and should be built,” Russian MFA spokesperson said.
