Yerevan /Mediamax/. On January 11 the decree of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the appointment of Serdar Kilic was published in the Turkish official bulletin, the wording of which, though, remained unnoticed in Armenia.
Back in mid-December Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that former ambassador of Turkey to the United States Serdar Kilic has been appointed Turkey’s special envoy for normalization of relations with Armenia.
But in Erdogan’s decree Serdar Kilic’s position is formulated in the following way:
“Special Envoy of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Armenia.”
The first meeting of Serdar Kilic and Ruben Rubenyan is scheduled for January 14 in Moscow.
Serdar Kilic, 63, has been working in Turkey’s MFA since 1984.
In different years, he has held the positions of the head of the NATO Department at the Foreign Ministry, Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon, Secretary General of the Turkish National Security Council, and Turkish Ambassador to Japan and the United States.
