Yerevan /Mediamax/. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed during a phone conversation the issue of Armenian-Turkish relations.
In particular, the statement issued by the U.S. Department of State says that they referred to the Turkey’s appointment of a Special Envoy to discuss the process of normalization of relations with Armenia.
The main topic of the talk was Ukraine.
“They discussed the importance of continued coordination regarding the threat of Russian escalation in Ukraine,” the statement said.
In late December 2021 Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that tensions between Russia and NATO “have reached dangerous level.”
“Turkey will not ignore close relations with Ukraine just because of its extensive relations with Russia,” he had said.
