Yerevan /Mediamax/. Special Representative of the Russian President on International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy said that the Azerbaijani president played a “brilliant” and “decisive” role in the second Karabakh war.

“President Ilham Aliyev has always said that if the issue of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan could not be resolved peacefully, then there would be a need to resolve it in a military way. From the very beginning, the president of Azerbaijan took a firm position on the return of those territories that the country lost as a result of the war in the early 90s. He has always been consistent in this issue,” Shvydkoy said in an interview with Trend.

At the same time, the special representative of the Russian president noted that Ilham Aliyev “understands very well that any victory requires perspectives in relations with neighbors.”
