Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian today has responded indirectly to Iranian FM Javad Zarif’s remarks, which Zarif made in Baku on January 24.

According to the Armenian MFA, at the extended meeting with Javad Zarif in Yerevan today, Ara Aivazian has said in particular:

“Our region is facing new, significant challenges, which were created by Azerbaijan’s dangerous attempt to solve the Karabakh conflict by force. Armenia believes that the results of Azerbaijan’s aggression and use of force against Artsakh cannot serve as a foundation for long-term peace or be considered a possibility for regional cooperation.

Iran is an important country in the region, and we respect the approaches with which Iran builds relations with close neighbors. Nevertheless, we would like to underline one more time that only long-term peace, which does not have “winners and losers” and “victories and defeats”, can create real guarantees for security, stability, and development in the region.”
