Yerevan /Mediamax. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell believes that Russia and Turkey aim to push Europe out of the settlement of regional conflicts.

“In conflicts like Nagorno-Karabakh, Libya as well as Syria, we are witnessing a form of “Astanisation” of regional conflicts (in reference to the Astana format on Syria) which leads to the exclusion of Europe from the settlement of regional conflicts in favour of Russia and Turkey,” Borrell writes in the article “Why European strategic autonomy matters”.

EU: Nagorno-Karabakh must have a status

Mediamax recalls that following the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg on October 12, Borrell was asked about EU-Russia relations in the light of Alexei Navalny’s poisoning and possible sanctions. He said that EU and Russia cooperate on various issues.

“For example, Russia is one of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, and President Macron should talk to President Putin if we want to establish a ceasefire. We are not going to stop it because of the Navalny case,” said Josep Borrell.
