Yerevan /Mediamax. Armenia Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres have discussed the humanitarian situation in Artsakh, which resulted from the f Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression, and its consequences for the region.
During a telephone conversation today, Ara Ayvazyan and Antonio Guterres have spoken about the humanitarian crisis and the steps taken to address it, said Armenian MFA.
In this regard, Foreign Minister Ayvazyan has underlined the importance of involvement of international organizations and primarily, relevant UN bodies on the ground.
He has also stressed the need to ensure the conditions for repatriation of the displaced Artsakh Armenians and the efforts required to protect their rights. Ara Ayvazyan has provided comprehensive information to the UN Secretary General on torture and other ill-treatment of POWs and civilians in Azerbaijani custody.
Both parties have highlighted strict observance of international humanitarian law and human rights norms, as wellas respectful attitude towards the historical and cultural heritage of Artsakh.
