Yerevan /Mediamax/. The Armenian government has announced that by the power of law Arshak Karapetyan is considered appointed the First Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces.
“In accordance with the Constitution and the Law on army service and the status of the military, on April 7 the Prime Minister submitted to the President the request to appoint Arshak Karapetyan the First Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces and attached the corresponding draft decree.
Given the fact that the President did not sign or return with objections the draft decree, submitted by the Prime Minister, within the period of time indicated by Paragraph 2, Article 139 of the Constitution and Paragraph 2, Article 35.1 of the Law on army service and the status of the military, by the power of the law Arshak Karapetyan is considered appointed the First Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces,” the government said.
Arshak Karapetyan was among the officers dismissed immediat6ely after the April war of 2016. After the Revolution of 2018, he served as assistant to the Prime Minister.
The previous First Deputy Chief of Staff, Tiran Khachatryan, was dismissed on February 24. He applied to the Administrative Court to appeal the decree for his dismissal.
