Yerevan /Mediamax/. An Armenian army unit has traveled to Russia to take part in the preparatory stage for Caucasus 2020 strategic military drills and the drills themselves. The exercise will be held at Kapustin Yar training ground on September 21-26.
The exercise organizers invited units from Armenia, Belarus, China, Myanmar, Iran and Pakistan to take part in joint drills – around 1,000 foreign servicemen.
In total, Caucasus 2020 will involve around 80,000 troops.
The drills will feature 250 tanks, up to 450 infantry fighting vehicles and equipment pieces, as well as up to 200 artillery and multiple rocket launchers.
Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Sri Lanka representatives will attend the exercise as observers.
