Yerevan /Mediamax/. The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan has commented today on the calls of the French and Canadian Foreign Ministries to Baku to release all Armenian prisoners of war.
“We ask the Foreign Ministries of Canada and France to notice that the Armenian side still has not fulfilled its obligations under international humanitarian law and under trilateral statements. Probably, both countries are aware that Armenia has provided neither information about 4,000 Azerbaijanis, who went missing during the 1991-1994 war, nor the maps of mines planted in Karabakh,” said Azerbaijani MFA Spokesperson Leyla Abdullayeva.
According to her, “if the Foreign Ministries of France and Canada want to demonstrate an objective rather than one-sided approach, they should call on Armenia to comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law and refrain from actions that impede the establishment of a lasting peace in the region.”
“Otherwise, they will seriously undermine their own credibility in the Azerbaijani society,” Abdullayeva said.
