Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan stated today that she has a negative attitude towards closing of Yerevan "Nairi" Cinema.

Mediamax reports that in a conversation with journalists, Minister said that “she would never give permission for privatization of cinemas”.

“The issue of “Nairi” Cinema is not a new problem. This issue has been in a process of discussion for the long time. However, I lack levers to influence this issue. Unfortunately, the owners have made such a decision”, she said.

Hasmik Poghosyan expressed hope that the plans on construction of new cinemas, including in the regions of Armenia, which were announced prior to the economic crisis, will be reanimated.

“I hope that we will have at least one social cinema. If we achieve this, many problems will be solved”, Minister said.
