Yerevan/Mediamax/. Director of the Museum-Institute of the Armenian Genocide Hayk Demoyan said today that murder of the Armenian officer Gurgen Makaryan committed by Ramil Safarov in Budapest 8 years ago and the subsequent developments once more proved that it’s “impossible” for Armenians to coexist with the Azerbaijani society.

Hayk Demoyan, who was the representative of the Armenian Defense Ministry in the case of Gurgen Makaryan during the trial in Budapest, said that Safarov and officers like him characterize the Azerbaijani society which “suffers from mass psychosis”, Mediamax reports

“It’s impossible to coexist with this society. First of all, Azerbaijan should heal its society and ensure tolerance towards Armenians. Only after that we’ll be able to start holding negotiations with them”, said Hayk Demoyan.

Commenting on the information according to which Ramil Safarov is engaged in intellectual activities in a Budapest jail, particularly doing translations, Hayk Demoyan said that it’s a propagandistic step to get him back to Azerbaijan.

In February 2004, Ramil Safarov ruthlessly killed 26-year-old Gurgen Margaryan by axing the sleeping Armenian officer. The murder was committed in Budapest while Margaryan and Safarov took English classes in the University of the National Defense of Hungary within NATO “Partnership for the sake of Peace” program.

In April 2004, the Budapest court sentenced the killer to life imprisonment.
