Yerevan /Mediamax/. Minister of Health of Armenia Arsen Torosyan has stated today that the number of recoveries among COVID-19 patients has grown in recent days because the isolated people have completed their 14-day quarantine.

“In mid-May we transferred patients with mild or no symptoms to home care and supervision. Around 1,000 people were not registered as recoveries, they were instructed to keep 14-day quarantine. In this period we labeled as recovered only the patients who were treated in the hospital and released after two negative tests.

Now the primary healthcare institutions register the end of 14-day quarantine and label as recovered the patients who were isolated at home. These people do not get a final test, they are simply considered to be recovered after 14-day isolation.

The same approach will be applied to new confirmed cases, which are not treated in the hospital,” explained Torosyan.

According to him, the number of recoveries is going to be much higher tomorrow than it was today (352).

Arsen Torosyan has noted that “this is a result of a change of strategy, not a breakthrough in the epidemic”.

According to him, low indices registered yesterday and today should not motivate people to grow complacent.

“Our general plan should be, for a long time, to slow down the epidemic, which is possible in case of strict compliance with the epidemiological rules,” added Arsen Torosyan.
