Yerevan/Mediamax/. The State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of Armenia (SCPEC) imposed a fine in the amount of AMD 5 million on 5 companies realizing coffee in Armenia: “Fero” (Fero), “Valetta” (Premiere), “Byurakn” (Pyramid Elite), “Vans Group (Star) and “Ascolio” ( Marseille).

Following examinations carried out on the coffee market, the Commission found out that the products of mentioned companies contain supplementary additives, which, the experts believe, may be  wheat, barley and acorn.

It was also found out that some types of packaged coffee although do not contain additives but are nonetheless decaffeinated.

According to the Commission, in comparison with honest  business subjects, above mentioned companies received serious competitive advantages, and sold the coffee at an incomparably low price due to cheap supplementary additives.

The whole package of abuses will be also sent to the State Food Security Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia as well as to law-enforcement bodies.
