5 crew members of the airplane crashed in Sudan are Armenians

Yerevan /Mediamax. 5 crew members of AN-12 cargo airplane of Russian production that today crashed in Sudan were Armenian citizens, the press service of Armenian Foreign Ministry reports this.

As RIA Novosti  reports, representative of South Sudan's presidential spokesperson Ateny Wek Ateny also commented on the plane crash.

 

He stressed that there were 18 people on the plane, only 3 of which survived.

 

“There were 12 passengers, 6 crew members including 5 Armenians and 1 Russian on AN-12 crashed in South Sudan”, Ateny Wek Ateny said adding that all the 12 passengers were Sudanese.

 

Representative of South Sudan President stressed that the survived are also Sudanese.

 

The official informed that the airplane belonged to Sudanese Allied Services Limited organization. Earlier, media were disseminating the possibility of the airplane being owned by an Armenian company. 

 

As a result of the plane crash, 2 dozens were killed at the wreck site on the land.

 

Experts consider overallocation and technical malfunctioning to be the possible cause of the accident.
