Yerevan. Mediamax. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that "the Russian people is mourning with the Armenian people today”.
Vladimir Putin has said this addressing a speech at the remembrance ceremony of the Armenian Genocide Centennial at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial today.
“1915 events shook the whole world and Russia perceived them as our own pain. Thousands of Armenians found sanctuaries in Russia and survived. Today we are mourning together with the Armenian people. Around 2000 remembrance events will be held in hundreds of Russian cities today”, said the Russian President.
According to him, Russia’s stance has been and is that mass killings of people have no justification.
Vladimir Putin has stressed that the international community ought to do its best so as the tragic events of past would not ever happen again.
“The relations of franternal peoples of Russia and Armenia have always been marked with special spiritual closeness and mutual support- 100 years ago, during the Great Patriotic War and the devastating earthquake in Spitak. We are with you, our friends'', said the Russian President.
