Yerevan /Mediamax/. American singer and actor of Armenian descent Cher (Sherilyn Sargsyan) today has posted 2 tweets on her Twitter microblog calling for recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
“A horror story my grandmother told me. "The Turks came to the village, they called a town meeting, shot men and boys and raped the women and girls””, wrote Cher.
Later, the singer posted a new tweet: “I don’t feel anger for (or blame) the people of Turkey for something that happened 100 years ago. But I think the government should acknowledge Genocide”.
Cher visited Armenia 22 years ago, in April 1993. Mediamax wrote about her visit in the Modern History project.
