Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group “may be considered de facto invalid.”

“Before the second Karabakh war, the Minsk Group operated for 28 years, and over these years the co-chairs probably paid hundreds of visits to Azerbaijan and Armenia. The result is zero. Azerbaijan itself resolved this conflict in a military-political way. The mandate issued to the Minsk Group to resolve the conflict, although de jure is in force, de facto can be considered invalid,” Aliyev said.

He said that after the end of war in Karabakh OSCE Minsk Group has not come forth with a single proposal.

“And in the current conditions, the format of the Minsk Group co-chairs is actually in a non-functional state. High-ranking officials of the co-chairing countries are already talking about this, and in this case, there can be no talk of any group activity,” Aliyev said.

He stressed that the issue of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia is on the agenda. “Any international organization capable of contributing to this cause is acceptable,” he added.
