Yerevan /Mediamax/. Turkey "strongly condemns the attempted coup in Armenia.”

According to the Anadolu news agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has made this remark today in Budapest at a joint press conference with his Hungarian counterpart.

He has stressed that Ankara is against attempts at seizure of power in any country, including Armenia.

“It is unacceptable for the military to overthrow a democratically elected government. We strongly condemn not only the attempted coups, but the very calls for the resignation of the elected government,” Cavusoglu said.

He has noted that now there are conditions for long-term stability in the South Caucasus and this chance must be used.

“Attempts at coup are detrimental to stability in countries. That is why we are against such a development of events. Ankara has had no contacts with the Armenian side. We have learned about and are monitoring the events from the media. Turkey adheres to a principled position on such issues. We are against any form of seizure of power,” Cavusoglu said.
