Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian Presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan, who received a gunshot wound on January 31, will appeal to the Constitutional Court on recognizing the "insurmountable obstacles” for conducting an election campaign.

Spokeswoman for Paruyr Hayrikyan Maya Ayvazyan informed Mediamax about this today.

If the Constitutional Court satisfies his appeal, presidential elections will be postponed for 2 weeks.

“Mr. Hayrikyan has not instructed us when to appeal to the Constitutional Court yet, but it’s not ruled out that we will do it today,” she said.

The Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, Gagik Harutyunyan , who visited Paruyr Hayrikyan at the hospital yesterday, stated that after receiving the appeal, the Court will have to define the procedure of its consideration within 24 hours and then make a decision during 4 days.

Presidential elections are due to be held in Armenia on February 18.
