Yerevan/Mediamax/. Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) thinks that the positions of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan are stable and he will remain in power until 2013 presidential elections.
EIU notes in its May report on Armenia that “President Sargsyan is likely to win a second term in office”, Mediamax reports.
““Prosperous Armenia” has been under some pressure from the RPA over its links to Robert Kocharian, a former president. Several important RPA figures have urged Prosperous Armenia to endorse Mr Sargsyan’s presidential bid, which it has so far refused to do. The opposition is unlikely to pose a serious threat to Mr Sargsyan, as it is unlikely to unite behind one candidate, owing to deep-seated divisions between the three main opposition parties”, the report notes.
