Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated today that "we are very close to registering first practical results of the work of the trilateral task group on opening regional communications.”

During the cabinet sitting today Nikol Pashinyan stressed that Russian Vice Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and Director General of the Russian Railways OJSC Oleg Belozyorov who arrived in Yerevan on February 2 met with the Armenian Vice Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.

“The visit was practical and was dedicated to the construction of Yeraskh-Joulfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Horadiz railway. We have already reached agreements on the issue. In the territory of Armenia the railway will operate in accordance with Armenia’s legislation and in the territory of Azerbaijan in accordance with theirs,” he said.

The Prime Minister also noted that the issues of formulation of the technical task, design, start of construction and financing of the railway are already being discussed.

“There is no need to get ahead of developments, but if this dynamics continues we can say confidently that the realization of that opportunity becomes tangible in the near future. Until the railway is built and the first train passes, we must keep in mind that the situation is not common, but the political will that we express is getting concrete manifestations,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
