Kocharyan: Armenian authorities wash their hands of Artsakh issue

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenia’s former president Robert Kocharyan said today that in 2021 the Armenian authorities registered a "complete failure in the security sector – no issue has been solved.”

Speaking at a news conference today, Robert Kocharyan said the fact that “we are having more than 30 captives in the fight for one-two positions” testifies the moral-psychological situation in the army.

“These authorities are not interested in having an efficient army,” the former president claimed.

Robert Kocharyan said that if the Armenian Prime Minister says that since 2016 there was not even a theoretical possibility that Artsakh would not be part of Azerbaijan, it means that this is the position of the current Armenian authorities.

“In fact, the Armenian authorities washed their hands of the Artsakh issue and questioned the declaration of independence of Artsakh adopted on September 2, 1991,” the second president said.

Robert Kocharyan believes that today Armenia should not agree to involve in the process of delimitation of borders with Azerbaijan.

“There are many grounds not to do that. In particular, in conditions of absence of diplomatic relations, such processes are not being launched,” the former Armenian leader said.

Robert Kocharyan expressed confidence that the current authorities can be removed only through mass protests.

“We must be ready and we will prepare such mass uprisings,” Robert Kocharyan said.
