Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Armenian National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan and President of Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko have discussed the NK conflict at the meeting in St. Petersburg.

“Valentina Matviyenko has attached importance to the signing of the trilateral statement on ceasefire in NK and deployment of Russian peacekeepers, which is the key guarantee of maintenance of ceasefire. She has reaffirmed the Kremlin’s stance that Azerbaijan must return all Armenian POWs and other detainees,” said the Armenian parliament’s press service.

Ararat Mirzoyan has highlighted the importance of returning of all Armenian POWs and other detainees, held in Azerbaijan, and stated that such actions by Azerbaijan created unfavorable atmosphere for the efforts aimed at unblocking of regional infrastructure.

The press statement on the website of the Russian Federation Council does not mention the POWs. The statement mentions the NK conflict as follows:

“The President of the Council has specifically highlighted the fact that the efforts of Russian, Azerbaijan and Armenian leaders have normalized the situation in NK and a direct it into a peaceful channel. “This is the victory of common sense. Now, we need to continue cooperating to settle urgent issues step by step,” said Matviyenko. She has also underlined Russian peacekeepers’ role in securing cooperation between all parties for the purpose of restoration of civilian life.”
