Pashinyan: We should settle unresolved issues calmly, gradually

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Today, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has stated that Azerbaijan’s actions toward the villages of Hin Tagher and Khtsaberd in Hadrut region of Artsakh were openly provocative and aimed at devaluating the presence of Russian peacekeepers.

“They want to show that the peacekeepers are unable to stop their provocations and that the fate of Khtsaberd and Old Tagher is the first serious test of the Russian peacekeeping mission,” he said.

Touching on the clarification of the Armenian-Azerbaijani borders in Syunik marz, Pashinyan said:

“The November 9 statement did not mention Zangelan and Kubatlu districts, as 90 percent or more of those territories were under Azerbaijani control at the time of signing. During the talks, there was an understanding that the border lines had to be adjusted in that area, which should be done in the coming weeks. At any stage of the implementation of the declaration, the internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Armenia have remained and will remain intact. The principle of inviolability of Armenia’s borders cannot be questioned in any way. These unresolved issues must be settled through calm, gradual efforts.”

He has added that “huge flows of misinformation have been circulating these days, most of them controlled from abroad, and we cannot rule out their connection with foreign special services.”

Nikol Pashinyan has also noted that there is some tension around Armenia and Artsakh, but it should be managed cold-heartedly “through close cooperation with our strategic partners.”

“Very often, the main points of the propaganda carried out by the enemy forces and some Armenian forces are the same, and this has been obvious for many months,” said Pashinyan.
