Yerevan /Mediamax/. Member of the Bundestag and the ruling CDU/CSU group Johann Wadephul has stated: "Turkey must know that we have run out of patience.”
He has made that remark during the discussion on Artsakh in the Bundestag on October 29.
“We must send a clear message to Turkey. We see its heavy military support for Azerbaijan. There are reports that Turkey is sending Islamists from Syria there. It is clear that Turkey has friendly relations with Azerbaijan, but we expect our NATO partner to use that friendship to resolve the conflict peacefully and not to add fuel to the fire every day. Turkey should know that our patience has already run out,” he said.
The deputy has also criticized Azerbaijan.
“We must send a very clear message to Azerbaijan too, as there is no doubt that Azerbaijan started the aggression.
President Aliyev has made it clear that he is not ready to end the aggression. We demand that Azerbaijan immediately demonstrates readiness for ceasefire and return to the negotiation table. The fact that Azerbaijan is now in a better position in terms of military capabilities does not mean that it should abuse it. Azerbaijan should know that it will lose any EU support if it does not return to the negotiating table,” said Wadephul.
He has also criticized the European Commission for passivity and called on EU President Ursula von der Leyen to act actively through foreign affairs and special commissioners and not be satisfied with the role of spectators.
