Serzh Sargsyan: Personally, I have nothing to fear

Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), former President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has stated he has nothing to fear personally.

Sargsyan handed out the certificates to graduates of Andranik Margaryan Political School on October 30.

RPA has said that in conclusion of the event Serzh Sargsyan answered the question from a graduate if he is concerned that he too might be arrested.

“It is common knowledge that only a fool is afraid of nothing. After 1988, I had a real fear of losing a part of our homeland – Nagorno-Karabakh, which would undoubtedly put the last remaining part of our homeland in huge and real danger. But I looked into that fear’s face along with dozens of thousands of other dedicated fighters, and together we overcame it, and you know how the war ended.

Am I afraid now or am I not? I do have fears: I’m afraid of the destructive policies pursued by irresponsible populists. Personally, I have nothing to fear. If my arrest makes Armenian people happy and satisfied, if my arrest means complete resolution of March 1 and October 27 cases, if my arrest nullifies the threats to our country and brings the Karabakh peace talks to the right direction, let them arrest me. As I mentioned, only a complete fool doesn’t fear anything. I think the cowards are the people who change their decisions under some influence or the other. I am not like that. I never change my decisions. If my absence from social life helps the economic revolution gain pace drastically and the flow of repatriated Armenians is so huge that we can feel proud of ourselves, let them arrest me. I don’t want to say more, because I promised to have a simple and sincere conversation with Armenian citizens and that moment is near,” said Sargsyan.
