Yerevan/Mediamax/. Director of Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan thinks that the developments in Russia won’t directly affect the processes in Armenia.
According to him, the election campaign in Armenia will have nothing in common with the Russian one, Mediamax reports.
Commenting on post-election rallies on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow, Alexander Iskandaryan said that the situation has sharply changed for the first time in last 10 years and resulted in the de- legitimization of authorities.
“After 1999, there was an impression that people have silently agreed to waive their freedoms for the sake of economic benefits. Now this “agreement” is breached. It doesn’t mean of course that there will be a revolution or the election results will be cancelled, but the legitimacy of authorities has strongly decreased,” the expert said, adding that the Russian authorities are confused and their reaction is somewhat unqualified.
