Yerevan/Mediamax/. "Mir 24" news TV channel will be established based on "Mir" intergovernmental TV and radio company.

Director of the Armenian branch of "Mir" Meruzhan Sargsyan said this today, Mediamax reports.

"The draft of the 24-hour news TV channel has already been approved by the prime ministers of the CIS countries during the meeting in Yalta on September 28", said Meruzhan Sargsyan.

He noted that it was impossible to cover the most important events of around 20 countries subscribed to the company in the current format within 1 day: "That was the reason why we should have a new news channel".

The new TV channel due to be launched from January 2013 will broadcast news reports every 30 minutes as well as programs, documentaries and "Armenia Today" 26-minute project.  Touching upon the activity of "Mir" radio, Meruzhan Sargsyan noted: "It's not available in Yerevan yet but it has "Yerevan Talks and Sings" program which is available to the citizens of subscriber countries.

According to him, "Mir" currently has over 72mln viewers and the radio has 20mln audience.

"On the 20th anniversary of the foundation of "Mir", three associates of the Armenian national branch were awarded by the Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan for their contribution to radio and TV sector and a 7-day photo exhibition featuring the works of the TV company opened in the lobby of "Moscow" cinema house.
