Yerevan /Mediamax/. Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today has said that "years later, when certain documents on the Artsakh peace talks are disclosed, we will see that the essence of the negotiations became distorted in the fall of 2015 and the winter of 2016.”

He has made this remark at the National Assembly, answering MP Tigran Urikhanyan’s question as to why President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan accuses the current government of failing the negotiation process and why the negotiation process was actually disrupted.

“If Serzh Sargsyan has decided to make revelations, he should tell people about the events of 2015 and 2016,” said Pashinyan.

According to him, there are documents that prove there was a change in the essence of the talks, with which he worked after assuming the position of Prime Minister in 2018.

“Years later, when certain negotiation documents are disclosed, we will all know that Serzh Sargsyan once wrote a letter to the mediators stating that referendum in NK had to express the free will of its entire population, but that he was concerned as to how many Azerbaijanis would be considered residents of NK. We know from this fact that the Azerbaijanis who had lived in Nagorno-Karabakh were to take part in the potential referendum. I have a question to Mr. Sargsyan: where in Nagorno-Karabakh did he think those Azerbaijanis would be living? In this regard, I would like to thank the reject for giving me the opportunity to disclose this information, because when I was talking about Shushi months ago, they said there was never such a topic in the negotiation process,” added Nikol Pashinyan.

Touching on the “5+2” format, the acting PM has said: “Let us state clearly that there was no such possibility, because back in 2016, Serzh Sargsyan talked in an interview about 7 regions.”
